Grant Request: Present, discuss, vote
Motion options:
I move to approve the grant as written using the Grant budget line item.
I move to approve the grant after changing X to Y.
I move to table the grant until the next membership meeting after we receive additional information X, Y, and Z.
No motions to take action on the grant means the grant will not be funded (i.e., you don’t need to make a motion against a grant).
Motion 1: Shannon makes a motion to increase the EPrep line item in our 2024-2025 budget by $2.5k, making the new total $3.5k.
This new value would allow the EPrep team to complete their EPrep plan in full, thereby securing our children more immediately for emergency situations and the ease of transferring a sustainable program to the next EPrep lead.
Motion 2: Add a line item called “Surplus Spending” of $20k to the 2024-2025 budget and form a committee to create recommendations for the membership for larger purchases to support the PTA mission using surplus funds from previous years.
As a non-profit organization, it is recommended that we only carry a one-year budget surplus that covers operating expenses.
This would allow the PTA to spend our surplus in the service of our mission.
The committee would collect ideas and create recommendations for the membership.
Final decisions would still be voted on by the membership.
